EFCC Arrests Ex-Kogi Governor Yahaya Bello Over Alleged Fraud

-

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Yahaya Bello, the immediate past governor of Kogi State, over alleged multi-billion-naira fraud.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed that Bello was taken into custody at approximately 12:54 PM on Tuesday at the commission’s Abuja office. Contrary to reports that the former governor submitted himself, Oyewale stated that Bello was apprehended by operatives after being declared wanted.

“He did not surrender himself to the commission; three of his lawyers are currently with him,” Oyewale disclosed.

Bello is now undergoing interrogation and is expected to face arraignment in court. The EFCC has not yet disclosed the specific charges but has indicated that investigations are ongoing.

This development marks a significant step in the commission’s efforts to address allegations of financial misconduct during Bello’s tenure as governor of Kogi State.
