Renowned singer Victor AD has addressed the ongoing rumors regarding his involvement in writing Davido’s hit song “Jowo.” Previously, there were speculations that Victor AD had claimed Davido “stole” his song during a studio session.
During a recent interview with Naija FM in Lagos, the artist, originally from Warri, made it clear that he did not write the song. He emphasized that these rumors nearly damaged his friendship with Davido.
Victor AD explained: “Out of the blue, someone started speculating that Victor AD wrote [Davido’s] ‘Jowo.’ I am not well-versed in social media. Most of the time, when I notice something happening on social media, it’s already two days after it became a trend.”
He continued: “My manager actually brought my attention to the ‘Jowo’ controversy on social media, but I didn’t take it seriously. Later, I decided to check the social media trend, and a few hours later, I saw a message from Davido. He said, ‘What’s going on? What’s up with this whole ‘Jowo’ thing?’ And I replied that I didn’t know anything about it.”
Furthermore, Victor AD stated, “I told him that, out of love and respect, I would never do something that could tarnish his reputation. I’m not the type of person to claim credit for something I didn’t do. Why would I seek credit for something I didn’t do?”
