Afrobeats superstar Davido was presented with an unpublished novel written in his honour during his recent visit to the Livak Signature Hotel in Jimeta, Yola, in a moment that has since captured public attention and raised questions about the book’s future.
The presentation was made by a young girl who served as the hotel’s official welcome representative for the evening. She first offered Davido a flower, which he graciously accepted, before handing him a manuscript titled “More Than Music: Davido and the Journey of an African Icon.” The encounter took place before an audience of hotel guests, staff, and members of the 30BG crew, and was documented in photographs showing the star posing alongside what witnesses described as his “youngest host” of the night.
The novel is authored by Lucy Ameh and published under the imprint of Ace Edits Services. The work is described as a novelised tribute to Davido’s career and cultural legacy as an African icon. It has been formally registered with an International Standard Book Number (ISBN), though the publishers have deliberately withheld it from public release.
Davido collected the manuscript and passed it to a member of his team before continuing with his engagements at the hotel. Since that evening, the Ace Edits team says it has received no formal response from the artiste or his representatives, leaving open the question of whether the book made it beyond Yola with the 30BG entourage.
“He was so gracious at Livak Signature,” a source close to the project said. “He took the flower, he took the photo, and he took the book. Now, we are just waiting for a sign. This is a story about an African icon, and we want it to be told with his blessing.”
The publishers say they are holding the book from public circulation until Davido has had the opportunity to review it and offer his official endorsement. The Ace Edits team has made clear that the project is a tribute, not a commercial exercise, and that the blessing of its subject is central to how they intend to release it.
