The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on its members in Edo State to be vigilant and prepared to defend their votes in the upcoming governorship election on September 21, 2024. At a press briefing in Abuja, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of intimidation and using security operatives to harass PDP supporters.
Ologunagba also alleged that the APC had equipped thugs with fake police uniforms and weapons to disrupt the election, warning that the PDP would not tolerate attempts to subvert the people’s will. He encouraged voters to stay at polling units after casting their votes to ensure results are uploaded before leaving.
Former vice president and PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar echoed these concerns in a message, urging Edo voters to reject the APC, which he accused of worsening the nation’s poverty and insecurity. Atiku endorsed the PDP’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, as a leader committed to improving the lives of Edo citizens.
The PDP has directed members and supporters to remain peaceful but alert, ready to defend their votes on election day.
