Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reinforced its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by donating various educational materials to the KNOSK N100 A-Day Charity Secondary School in Kuje, Abuja. The donations, aimed at supporting children from the poorest households, include state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, well-refurbished containers for a science lab and staff room, 200 backpacks, 2,000 notebooks, copies of the book *What Sunny Saw in the Sun*, and 50 mosquito nets.
Speaking at the event, Julius Berger’s Head of Corporate Communications, Mr. James Agama, highlighted the company’s dedication to uplifting communities within its operational environment. He praised the school’s mission of providing education to underserved children and encouraged the students to maximize the benefits of the donated materials.
Co-founder of the school, Mr. Kingsley Bangwell, expressed deep gratitude for the donations, emphasizing that the school had long needed a science laboratory. Due to space constraints, they previously used corridors and kitchen areas as makeshift labs. The new facilities and equipment, he noted, were of international standard and would greatly enhance the students’ learning experience.
Mrs. Irene Bangwell, the Head of Academics, echoed the sentiments, adding that the donations will help close learning gaps, especially in science education. She thanked Julius Berger for the significant impact the company has made in improving the educational environment for their students.
KNOSK Charity School, founded in 2019, provides quality, skills-based secondary education to children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds. As of September 2024, the school serves 195 students, with 127 receiving full sponsorship, helping break the cycle of poverty through education.
