Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has expressed firm belief that only the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has the capability to address Nigeria’s current challenges and reclaim power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at a meeting with the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT) led by Chief Adolphos Wabara, Mohammed, who chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum, emphasized his optimism about the party’s future despite ongoing internal conflicts. The PDP is currently grappling with a power struggle between Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory over the party’s structure in Rivers.
Mohammed praised the recent visits by the BoT and the National Working Committee (NWC) to Bauchi as vital for rebuilding the party. He noted that efforts are being made to reconcile internal disputes and consolidate the party’s position.
The Governor acknowledged that former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike’s involvement with the APC is unusual but reaffirmed Wike’s continued importance to the PDP. Mohammed suggested that the crisis within the party is being exploited by opponents who seek to destabilize it.
Despite these challenges, Mohammed remained confident that the PDP’s unity and strategic efforts would lead to victory in the 2027 elections, asserting that the party possesses the necessary resources and talent to effect meaningful change in Nigeria.
