The Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) SOROH has intensified efforts to combat oil theft in Bayelsa State by deactivating illegal operations across several locations.
On December 5, 2024, NNS SOROH personnel discovered and dismantled an illicit insertion point in the Igbomatoru area. The site included six wooden canoes, a generator, cables, and pipes.
The following day, December 6, a patrol team intercepted two wooden boats loaded with numerous sacks of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in the Kongo axis of the state.
Additionally, on December 12, 2024, the Navy confiscated two canoes carrying an unspecified quantity of stolen crude oil and a metal drum within the Igbomatoru community.
The Navy continues to pledge its commitment to eradicating oil theft and other maritime crimes in the Niger Delta region.
