Former Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Bolaji Abdullahi, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State.
The resignation was confirmed in a letter addressed to the PDP chairman of Ubandawaki Ward in Ilorin West Local Government Area. Abdullahi’s decision was also corroborated by Mas’ud Adebimpe, his associate and former Chief Press Secretary to ex-Senate President Bukola Saraki.
In his letter, Abdullahi described his decision as a result of “reflection and introspection,” stating:
“I have come to the difficult conclusion that this is the only tenable option for me at this time.”
He expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the opportunities he had while serving under its platform, both at the state and national levels.
The state PDP Publicity Secretary, Olusola Adewara, described Abdullahi’s exit as personal and devoid of animosity:
“The decision is personal to him as it is reflected in his letter of resignation. He didn’t state whether the party or our leader offended him in person. So, there’s no ill feeling.”
Adewara added that the party respects Abdullahi’s choice and wished him well in his future endeavors.
This resignation comes amid speculation about Abdullahi’s next political move, although no official announcement has been made regarding his future plans.
