Former APC National Vice Chairman (North-West), Salihu Lukman, has called on ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to unite with past Nigerian leaders in forming a strong opposition party to challenge President Bola Tinubu and the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Reacting to a recent statement by Obasanjo that “a leader made by Satan is bound to fail,” Lukman emphasized the need for past leaders, including Generals Yakubu Gowon, Ibrahim Babangida, Muhammadu Buhari, Abdulsalami Abubakar, and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, to collaborate on producing “godly leaders” for the nation.
In an open letter, Lukman argued that lamenting the state of leadership without action only strengthens the current administration. He wrote, “It is not enough to lament about Satanic leadership. Failure to assert moral authority paves the way for a second term for Tinubu’s team of failed leaders.”
Lukman stressed that uniting opposition leaders under a single platform is crucial to breaking the cycle of “Satanic genotypes” in leadership, which he claims foster impunity and clone dysfunctional political systems.
He warned of risks in the political re-engineering process, cautioning against divisions among opposition leaders that could lead to the emergence of another ineffective party similar to APC or PDP.
According to him, this collaborative effort could serve as a foundation for a political revolution that prioritizes discipline, morality, and competence in governance.
