Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has declared a three-day mourning period in honor of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, an Osun native from Ilobu. The mourning commenced on Thursday, with flags to be flown at half-mast across the state.
The governor’s directive, issued in a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. Kolapo Alimi, also announced that condolence registers have been set up at the Government House and the Governor’s Office for the public to express their sympathies.
Describing Lagbaja’s passing as a “colossal loss” for both Osun State and the nation, Alimi conveyed the government’s condolences to the Lagbaja family, the Olobu of Ilobu, and the people of Osun. The mourning period will last until Saturday, November 9, 2024. Governor Adeleke prayed for the late General’s soul and remembered him as one of the “Glories of Osun State.”
