During a quarterly visit to the Warri Correctional Centre, Delta State Chief Judge, Justice Tessy Diai, granted freedom to an inmate, Mr. Napue Chitu, based on a recommendation from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). Justice Diai revealed that a total of 379 warrants were reviewed as part of this initiative.
Justice Diai also visited the Sapele Correctional Centre, where she reviewed warrants, including those for minors at the Sapele Remand Home. She clarified that no other inmates were released, as their cases are still pending in court. Commending the Assistant Controller of Prisons and the DPP’s office, she acknowledged their collaborative efforts in facilitating the review process.
