Davido has propelled YG Marley to his first-ever #1 song in Nigeria with their collaboration “Awuke,” which debuted at the top of the TurnTable Top 100 chart for the week of November 1-7, 2024. This marks a major milestone for both artists, especially for YG Marley, whose chart-topping success is largely attributed to Davido’s star power.
Released on October 31, 2024, “Awuke” is Davido’s first single of 2024 following several guest features. The song’s debut at No. 1 on Nigeria’s only aggregate music chart—combining data from TV, radio, and streaming platforms—further solidifies Davido’s dominance in the industry.
For YG Marley, “Awuke” is not only his first #1 in Nigeria but also places him alongside other artists who have earned their first chart-topping hits with Davido’s collaboration. He becomes the eighth artist to achieve this feat, following names like Mayorkun, Teni, and Nicki Minaj.
Interestingly, “Awuke” is only the third song to reach the top spot without being available on major streaming platforms, joining the ranks of Gyakie & Omah Lay’s “Forever” remix and Wizkid’s “Piece of My Heart.”
For Davido, this success marks his ninth #1 song, further cementing his position as one of Nigeria’s most influential musicians. “Awuke” is also his third #1 hit of 2024, following contributions to Kizz Daniel’s “Twe Twe” remix and the collaboration on “Ogechi” with BoyPee, Hyce, and Brown Joel.
