The Nigeria Customs Service’s Lilypond Export Command in Lagos reported processing $937 million worth of agricultural and manufactured exports in the third quarter of 2024. This marks a 407% increase from $184 million in the second quarter.
Area Controller Ajibola Odusanya attributed the rise to the consolidation of export operations, which streamlined processes. In September alone, the command handled 3,363 export containers weighing 221,961 metric tonnes and valued at $202 million. Agricultural exports, including sesame seeds and hibiscus flowers, led the contributions with $93.7 million, followed by manufactured goods at $65 million.
Odusanya highlighted the surge in export tonnage, growing by 368%, and significant increases in export duties and the Nigerian Export Supervision Scheme revenue. The consolidation has reduced bureaucratic hurdles, improving processing times and compliance with customs regulations.
