Ahmed Musa Calls for CAF Sanctions Against Libya Over Super Eagles’ Treatment

Ahmed Musa, former captain of Nigeria’s Super Eagles, has condemned the treatment the team and officials received from Libyan authorities ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifier, *Daily Post* reports. The Super Eagles were stranded at Al Abaq Airport and have since pulled out of their scheduled match.

Musa expressed disappointment over Libya’s actions and called on the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to impose strict sanctions on the Libya Football Federation. In a statement on X, Musa said, “This is not sportsmanship, and I want CAF to intervene and investigate this incident.”

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has also filed an official complaint with CAF, while the team is now on their way back to Nigeria.

Five-time champions Cameroon have secured their spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations following a 1-0 victory over Kenya in Kampala, with Boris Enow netting the decisive goal.

Additionally, 2019 champions Algeria have also qualified, winning their match against Togo 1-0 in Lome, courtesy of a first-half penalty by Ramy Bensabaini.

With these results, Cameroon and Algeria join hosts Morocco and Burkina Faso as the four teams confirmed for the tournament so far.
