Nollywood is in mourning once again as it bids farewell to one of its own, Natty Bruce. The renowned Martial Arts actor’s passing was announced by lecturer and journalist, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, on his Facebook page.
The exact cause of Natty Bruce’s death remains unknown, but Dr. Husseini received reliable information confirming the actor’s passing. Natty Bruce had a vision to bring Martial Arts into Nollywood movies and had been working on a full-length Martial Art movie before his untimely demise.
Dr. Husseini bid Natty Bruce farewell with these words: “I have just been reliably informed that light has dimmed on foremost Nollywood’s ‘martial arts’ actor, Natty Bruce. The green belter was passionate about integrating Martial Arts into Nollywood movies. He also tried to produce a full-length Martial Art movie… Good night Oga Natty… bye bye Sir.”
Condolences poured in on social media as fans and colleagues remembered the actor. Many expressed their shock and sadness over the recent losses in Nollywood, with comments such as, “All these Nollywood actors, they don’t last. What’s happening to these people?” and “Rest in peace, sir.”
Nollywood has experienced several losses in recent months, including veterans Don Brymo Uchegbu and Saint Obi. Don Brymo Uchegbu, known for a viral video of him dancing heartily, passed away after collapsing in his hotel room in Rivers State. He was confirmed to have had a partial stroke and high sugar levels. Saint Obi, aged 57, succumbed to a prolonged illness in Jos.
These losses highlight the challenges faced by Nollywood actors and serve as a reminder of the need for better asset management in the industry.”
