Suspected armed thugs on Monday stormed the Labour Party (LP) Secretariat located in Ikeja GRA, Lagos, looting valuables and carting away millions of naira in cash during a broad daylight raid.
Eyewitnesses, including a staff member at the secretariat, said the attackers—estimated to be about 300—invaded the premises around 10 a.m., forcefully gaining entry and vandalizing several offices. Sensitive party documents and cash were among the items stolen.
The attackers reportedly moved swiftly, leaving behind a trail of destruction. Police officers arrived at the scene shortly after the incident but were unable to make any arrests, as the thugs had fled before law enforcement could intervene.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact motive behind the brazen attack remains unknown. However, the Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Authorities have promised to bring those responsible to justice, as tensions rise over the safety of political offices in the state.
