Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has raised concerns about potential attacks on the newly sworn-in local government chairmen, alleging that plans are underway to mobilize 20 individuals per unit to confront them. He advised the chairmen to adopt a cautious approach in light of these threats.
Fubara made these statements during the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected chairmen in Port Harcourt, the state capital. Of the new chairmen, 22 were elected under the Action Peoples Party, while one contested on the Action Alliance platform.
“I’m aware that there are plans to mobilize 20 people per unit to confront you when you return to your local government headquarters,” Fubara warned. “If they come with violence, avoid them. The peace of this state is too important to us. Everyone knows what they are planning, but I urge you to follow my approach.”
He emphasized the importance of patience and strategy, assuring the new chairmen that with careful planning, they would ultimately succeed. “At the right time, you will always win if you are patient and calculative. We have made our promises to our people, and we are committed to leading them to the Promised Land,” he concluded.
