– Nigerians Drag Ashmusy After She Breaks Down Recounting Her Poor Background
*Nigerians have criticized content creator and model Amarachi Amusi, known as Ashmusy, after she shared her story of a difficult upbringing during an emotional interview.
In the interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo on With Chude’s Show, Ashmusy revealed that she grew up in severe poverty, living in a one-room apartment with her mother and 20 other people. She recounted how she borrowed hair and other items to create the appearance of wealth and attended numerous auditions, including the Big Brother Naija show, without success. She also firmly denied claims of using her body or forming relationships for favors, specifically addressing rumors about Nigerian politician Dino Melaye.
Ashmusy’s story moved many, and she broke down in tears while speaking about the harsh judgment she faced from the media and online commenters, who questioned her talent, wealth, and morals. Despite the challenges, Ashmusy proudly stated that she built everything herself, without any “sugar daddy” or shortcuts, emphasizing her self-made success with multiple businesses.
However, following the interview, Nigerians took to the comment section to question the authenticity of her claims, particularly about her attending Madonna University, a private institution, while allegedly growing up in such poverty. Some commenters expressed disbelief, pointing out that a person from such a background wouldn’t typically have the means to afford such expensive education.
One user, sandra_mcrobert, wrote, “You live in a face-me-I-face-you apartment with 20 people, and you were able to afford Madonna University? The story doesn’t add up.” Other users echoed similar sentiments, arguing that her narrative of poverty didn’t match her educational background.
