Polaris Bank Offers Free Breast Cancer Screenings for 250 Women During Awareness Month

-

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Polaris Bank is offering free breast cancer screenings to 250 women, reinforcing its commitment to women’s health. This initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG 3), which promotes well-being for all ages.

Partnering with the NGO Care Organisation Public Enlightenment (C.O.P.E.), Polaris Bank has provided screenings to over 20,000 women and funded treatment for more than 30 cancer patients over the last decade. This year’s programme focuses on underserved communities, with an emphasis on early detection, crucial for reducing both treatment costs and mortality rates.

Polaris Bank’s holistic approach includes education, advocacy, and outreach to encourage regular self-examinations and timely medical intervention. The bank also fosters a supportive environment for breast cancer survivors through initiatives like “Celebrating Our Pink Heroes” and spa outings, aimed at reducing stigma and promoting healing.

The bank’s support extends beyond screenings, having co-financed the Marcelle Ruth Cancer Centre and Specialist Hospital (MRCC), a leading cancer treatment facility in sub-Saharan Africa. Women interested in the screenings can visit the bank’s website or social media pages for more details. Screenings are scheduled on the third and fourth Saturdays of October, and every third Saturday thereafter at the C.O.P.E. Centre in Lagos.

Polaris Bank, named Nigeria’s Digital Bank of the Year for three consecutive years (2021-2023), continues to leverage its digital platform to raise awareness and empower women with access to vital healthcare services.
