Oba Ghandi Olaoye, the Soun of Ogbomosoland, has expressed high hopes for the upcoming Ogbomoso Cradles Carnival, set for December 19-24, 2024, predicting it will be Nigeria’s largest cultural and tourism event. Speaking during a fundraising dinner at the Imperial Heritage Hotel, Ogbomoso, Oba Olaoye emphasized the event’s potential to bring together culture enthusiasts and promote community pride.

The carnival is part of his 25-Year Development Plan aimed at transforming Ogbomosoland into a model city. “We want our people to love Ogbomoso and their king because when they do, they’ll invest in the community,” said Oba Olaoye, noting the significance of community unity in driving development.

Oladejo Akanni, chairman of the planning committee, added that the six-day event will showcase the region’s rich cultural heritage and promote tourism as a driver of economic growth. The carnival will feature a revival of traditional masquerades and a call for peaceful celebrations during the Egungun festival.

The event drew support from business leaders, cultural advocates, and entertainment figures, all eager to help promote Ogbomoso’s tourism potential.
