Fouad Oki, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that the impeachment of Mudashiru Obasa, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, was in the best interest of the state. Oki explained that President Bola Tinubu personally witnessed Obasa’s alleged “unimaginable behavior,” which contributed to the Speaker’s removal.
Obasa was impeached over allegations of fraud, with Oki emphasizing that this action was long overdue. He further revealed that President Tinubu attempted to resolve the crisis within the House of Assembly, but after meeting with party elders, he saw firsthand Obasa’s recalcitrant attitude, which ultimately led to the impeachment. Oki stated that the decision was necessary to uphold the integrity of the House and the state.
