Troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) have successfully neutralized 15 ISWAP terrorists and seized a significant cache of weapons during a series of clearance operations in Mongunu, Borno State.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, Chief Military Information Officer at HQ MNJTF in N’Djamena, Chad, the operation was a joint effort involving ground forces, hybrid units, and air support. The troops intercepted fleeing wounded ISWAP terrorists attempting to regroup in Guzamala.

“In a follow-up ground operation, the troops eliminated 15 terrorists and captured one alive,” the statement said. “The terrorists were trying to flee after sustaining injuries, and three additional Vehicle Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIEDs) were destroyed, bringing the total to seven.”

The operation also resulted in the capture of a substantial amount of weaponry, including seven AK-47 rifles, one Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) bomb and tube, two Anti-aircraft guns, and 152 rounds of Shilka ammunition.

This successful operation marks another step toward restoring peace and security in the region and significantly weakens the ranks of ISWAP. The MNJTF has reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of local communities.
