DJ Neptune has addressed allegations of fraud made by Laycon, a former Big Brother Naija winner. Laycon recently accused the popular disc jockey of failing to pay him royalties for their collaboration on the ‘Nobody Icons’ Remix, released four years ago.
In a recent interview on the ‘Zero Conditions’ podcast, DJ Neptune denied any wrongdoing. He emphasized that there was no intention to defraud Laycon and explained the situation regarding the unpaid royalties.
DJ Neptune clarified, “Laycon is my brother, regardless. Nobody ate anybody’s money. When dealing with a distribution company or label, there’s often advanced marketing money involved, which they need to recoup. That’s where we are with the ‘Nobody Icons’ Remix.”
He detailed that Laycon’s concerns were about documentation and that he had referred Laycon’s lawyer’s contact to his own legal team for resolution. DJ Neptune expressed regret for not following up more closely but insisted that a proposed percentage was rejected by Laycon’s team, and the issue remained unresolved.
DJ Neptune criticized Laycon for publicly accusing him of scamming and stressed that the matter was being handled legally rather than through social media.
