Abducted Anglican Delegates in Abia Reunite with Families

-

Delegates from the Anglican Diocese of Isiala Ngwa in Abia State, who were abducted in Kogi State while traveling to Abuja, have regained their freedom and reunited with their families.

The group, which included two priests and several male and female church members, was en route to attend the Divine Commonwealth Conference of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion (DIVCCON) when they were kidnapped by unknown assailants.

The incident sparked widespread concern among the Anglican community, prompting church leaders to organize prayer sessions for the delegates’ safe release.

A statement from the Diocese confirmed that the victims had been freed and returned to Abia State. However, details surrounding their release, including whether police intervention or ransom payments facilitated their freedom, remain undisclosed.

The reunion of the abductees with their families marks a relief for the Anglican faithful, who had been anxiously awaiting positive news. The incident underscores ongoing security challenges on Nigerian highways.
