Controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has confirmed his “temporary” departure from Nigeria, attributing his move to the need for “sanity and health.” Bobrisky disclosed the news on Instagram, stating, “Yes, I’m here to confirm I’m out of Nigeria temporarily. I need to attend to my sanity and my health.”
The cross-dresser cited frustrations with travel disruptions allegedly caused by some Nigerian security agencies. In particular, Bobrisky called on KLM Airlines to refund two unused business-class tickets, each costing him ₦9.8 million, which he says he was unable to use due to these challenges.
“Imagine buying a business class ticket three times; only one was successful,” he wrote. “KLM, I hope you guys refund me the two I didn’t use. I know it’s not your fault, but it’s fine. Each business class cost me ₦9.8 million. I only successfully flew yesterday, 3/11/2024.”
Bobrisky, known for his often controversial online presence, addressed potential critics, saying, “Before you come to my page to type nonsense, check your account balance if you can afford three business seats, not to talk of buying it three times. Well, I’m not in Nigeria, so your comment means nothing.”
The announcement comes shortly after Bobrisky’s reported altercation with security personnel at Murtala Muhammed International Airport. He was allegedly stopped and removed from a KLM flight to London last Thursday night and subsequently questioned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja. The EFCC reportedly interrogated him over claims that he had bribed officials with ₦15 million to drop money laundering charges. Bobrisky was later released on bail, reportedly denying the bribery allegations in his statement.
