“What Are We Celebrating?” – Do2dtun Reflects on Nigeria’s Independence Day

Published

on

As Nigeria marks its Independence Day on October 1st, on-air personality Do2dtun has taken to Instagram to express his concerns regarding the meaning of this celebration. Reflecting on the challenges facing the nation, he questioned the significance of the day, asking, “What are we celebrating? The fume or the smoke? The needles or the thorns? The depression or the tiredness?”

His post emphasizes the harsh realities many Nigerians face, suggesting that the struggles and pain are evident in their daily lives. He wrote, “It bleeds yet we still need it to dig a soil you are not sure will give you oil of death or gold.”

Do2dtun called for a reality check, noting that the current difficulties have created a cycle of blame, where individuals pass responsibility without taking action. He lamented, “When will the blame games end? Who will just fix it and never worry about who didn’t? When will our tears be worth more than the pain?”

While acknowledging the national holiday, he pointed out that people often overlook the ongoing hardships by focusing solely on celebrations, stating, “We can all go about our business, fly our flags, and forget the focus… but you can’t erase the pain of the hardship in our lives.”

He urged fellow citizens to share their struggles and contribute positively to the nation’s progress. According to Do2dtun, the problems may be overwhelming, but they can only be addressed if leaders prioritize the well-being of the people over personal emotions. He concluded with a hopeful note, expressing a desire for Nigeria to one day be “chosen for a miracle.”

Known for his outspoken views on social issues, Do2dtun is not one to shy away from discussing his personal challenges publicly, including his experiences with paternity issues. His candid reflections continue to resonate with many Nigerians who share similar sentiments about their country’s current state.
