UNILAG’s women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams clinched gold in both events at the 11th All-Africa University Games, outpacing Lagos State University and Lagos State University of Science and Technology. The victories came with silver and bronze medals for their Lagos counterparts.
Meanwhile, Ghanaian universities—University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and University of Development Studies—showcased their prowess, sweeping medals in various events. Ghana dominated the men’s 4x100m relay, claiming gold, silver, and bronze against tough competition including UNILAG, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, and UNIJOS.
Janet Mensah of Kwame Nkrumah University impressed with double gold in the women’s 100m and 200m, setting a strong pace in both races. Her outstanding performances underscored Ghana’s athletic strength at the games.
The competition continues to highlight remarkable talent across Africa, with athletes pushing boundaries and showcasing exceptional skills on the track.
The 2024 FASU Games, co-hosted by University of Lagos and Lagos State University, will conclude on September 29 with the closing ceremony at LASU.
