Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Marcos Alonso, the former Chelsea and Barcelona defender, is eager to join Manchester United this summer.
Romano reported that Alonso has expressed a strong desire to move to Manchester United, following recent links to the club. Despite this interest, there have been no concrete developments or advanced negotiations regarding the transfer.
In an interview with GiveMeSport, Romano noted, “Marcos Alonso would love to go to Manchester United. He has been offered to Manchester United in recent weeks, but there is nothing really concrete or advanced so far.”
Romano added that Manchester United is currently taking their time to assess their options for a left-back, as they aim to replace the injury-prone Luke Shaw. The club is expected to be cautious with their budget and might focus their efforts on securing a midfielder before making a final decision on a left-back.
Meanwhile, Manchester United is set to face Fulham in their Premier League opener on Friday night.
