Tompolo Faces Life Threats Over Fight Against Oil Theft

-

Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has revealed he faces constant life threats due to his efforts in combating oil theft in Nigeria. Tompolo, the founder of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, stated that powerful figures outside the Niger Delta are behind these threats.

During a meeting with the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) at Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom, he highlighted recent confrontations, including an incident where naval personnel allegedly attacked Tantita operatives during an operation in Port Harcourt creeks.

Tompolo called for improved collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and private security outfits to address the issue. “We have stepped on many toes, especially of those in Lagos and Abuja,” he remarked, noting that his team’s anti-oil theft activities have made them targets.

The NBA President, Afam Osigwe (SAN), emphasized the need to stem oil theft, which undermines Nigeria’s economy. He noted that the NBA is committed to addressing the environmental degradation in oil-producing regions and pledged support to ensure justice.

The Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro-Gbaraun II, appealed for infrastructural development in the region, urging the government to invest in host communities that sustain the nation’s oil wealth.

This situation underscores the pressing need for enhanced security measures and government intervention to protect assets and individuals combating oil theft in Nigeria.
