The newly elected Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Abayomi Tella, has pledged to rejuvenate, rebuild, and reposition the party for success in the state. Tella made these remarks following his election at the PDP state congress, supervised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abeokuta on Saturday.
Tella emphasized that the PDP’s true identity lies in being a ruling party, not the opposition, and expressed confidence in the party’s return to power in the upcoming elections. He acknowledged the internal challenges the party had faced but remained optimistic about its future.
“We must attribute the success of today’s congress to various eminent individuals who were instrumental to this God-ordained project,” Tella said. He also expressed gratitude to the outgoing executives and called for unity, saying, “Working together again should neither be difficult nor impossible.”
The newly elected chairman outlined his vision for the party, stating that his leadership would focus on building internal cohesion, expanding membership, and promoting policies to bring relief to Ogun State residents.
Tella’s leadership marks a new chapter for the Ogun State PDP, which has faced challenges, including internal conflicts and judicial interventions. With a clear vision, the party aims to be a formidable force in the next elections.
