Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that his administration’s accomplishments within a year have surpassed what his political opponents achieved in eight. Addressing a church congregation in Port Harcourt during Nigeria’s 64th Independence celebration, Fubara dismissed his detractors, accusing them of envy and frustration.
In response to recent criticism from former Governor and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Fubara outlined key projects under his leadership, including the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Trans-Kalabari Road, and a new general hospital featuring a psychiatric facility. He stressed that these initiatives had been undertaken without borrowing, contrasting with past administrations.
Fubara also emphasized his dedication to public service over private interests, asserting that his political opponents were desperate for recognition due to their declining influence. He urged the people of Rivers to stand firm in protecting the state’s integrity.
The governor’s remarks come amid rising political tension between him and Wike, who recently mocked Fubara’s decision to join the Action Peoples Party. Fubara dismissed the criticism, maintaining that his decisions align with the state’s interests and pledging continued progress under his leadership.
Meanwhile, the Rivers Ijaw Foundation condemned Wike’s recent comments about prominent Ijaw leaders, describing them as divisive and disrespectful.
