Former Senator Shehu Sani has commended President Bola Tinubu’s foreign travels, describing them as impactful and productive compared to previous administrations.
Sani highlighted that Tinubu’s visits to Saudi Arabia, Brazil, France, China, and South Africa have yielded substantial economic benefits, including Brazil’s $4.2 billion grant to boost Nigeria’s agriculture. The grant, he noted, will benefit local governments across the country.
“The history of presidential foreign travels in this country has been infamously known to be wasteful. There is an evidently notable difference this time around,” Sani posted on his X handle.
He further praised Tinubu for leveraging these trips to secure tangible investments, contrasting it with past instances of unproductive travels.
In Q3 2024, Nigeria recorded a 248.1% surge in foreign direct investment (FDI), an achievement many attribute to the President’s diplomatic engagements. This marks a shift in perception towards the value of presidential trips in driving economic growth.
