Ronaldo Rejects Silver Medal After Al-Nassr’s Heavy Defeat in Saudi Super Cup Final

-

Cristiano Ronaldo displayed visible frustration and disappointment following Al-Nassr’s 4-1 loss to Al-Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final, choosing to decline his runner-up medal. Ronaldo had given Al-Nassr a lead with a goal just before halftime, but the team faltered in the second half as Al-Hilal surged ahead with four goals, including two from Aleksandar Mitrovic and one from Malcom.

The defeat was further exacerbated by taunts from Al-Hilal fans, who chanted “Messi” and saw their captain, Salem Al-Dawsari, recreate Lionel Messi’s famous World Cup celebration. Ronaldo, visibly upset and gesturing towards his teammates in frustration, opted to skip the medal ceremony and head straight to the locker room.

This refusal has fueled debates about Ronaldo’s future in football and his ongoing career with Al-Nassr. Despite his current struggles, ex-teammates Rio Ferdinand and Louis Saha have expressed confidence in Ronaldo’s longevity and potential future roles, suggesting he could transition into a managerial or executive position once he decides to retire from playing.
