The Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC), DIG Hashimu Argungu (retd.), has issued a stern warning to candidates seeking admission into the Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, against bribery or any form of compromise during the ongoing 2024 Post-JAMB admission screening.
During a supervisory visit to the academy on Wednesday, Argungu emphasized that any candidate caught engaging in unethical practices would be disqualified. He stressed that the admission process must uphold principles of merit, fairness, and transparency.
“Any candidate negotiating to pay money for consideration should be weeded out. The process must run on merit and transparency,” Argungu stated, according to a press release by PSC spokesperson Ikechukwu Ani.
The PSC chairman also inspected several academy facilities, including the moot court, clinic, library, lecture theatres, and screening centres. He directed the immediate repair of malfunctioning computers to ensure a seamless screening process.
Commending the Commandant of the academy, AIG Abubakar Sadiq, Argungu lauded the innovative measures introduced, particularly the computer-based testing system. He highlighted how the system enhances accountability by providing instant results to candidates.
The visit underscores the commission’s commitment to fostering integrity in the recruitment of future police officers, ensuring that only qualified candidates are admitted based on merit.
This initiative is expected to strengthen the credibility of the academy’s admission process while setting a standard for transparency in public sector recruitment.
