The Edo State Police Command has arrested Promise Erosele Tobore, a 24-year-old man, in connection with the theft of a car belonging to a staff member of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
In a post on its official X handle on Tuesday, the police revealed that they had received a distress call about a car theft involving a two-man gang in Benin City, the state capital. Upon receiving timely information from a concerned citizen, officers launched a pursuit, which led the suspects to abandon the stolen vehicle and flee on foot.
Tobore was apprehended during the chase, while his accomplice, identified as Best Chinwendu (also known as ‘Best’), managed to escape. Authorities are continuing their investigation and are working to capture the fleeing suspect.
