PDP Peace Panel Led by Oyinlola Meets Makinde, Aims to Resolve Internal Crisis

-

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Reconciliation Committee, led by former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, visited Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday to address the internal crises plaguing the party. The meeting took place at the state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, where Oyo State Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal received the committee on behalf of Governor Makinde.

Lawal emphasized the importance of the committee’s task, stating that its success would determine the future of the PDP, which has seen its influence dwindle from controlling 28 states in 1999 to only 12 states currently. He urged party stakeholders to cooperate to strengthen the party’s position nationally.

Oyinlola acknowledged that internal rifts, driven by conflicting personal interests and political ambitions, have contributed to the party’s decline. He called on aggrieved members to set aside their differences and participate in reconciliation efforts to rebuild a united PDP capable of winning future elections, including the crucial Ondo State governorship race.

The reconciliation efforts continue as the committee engages with party members across the country to ensure a united front ahead of future elections.
