Manchester United have entered the competition to acquire Bayer Leverkusen’s attacking sensation, Victor Boniface, setting the stage for a potential transfer battle with Chelsea, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 23-year-old Nigerian striker has been in exceptional form since joining the German club in the summer of 2023, garnering interest from several top European clubs. In his debut season, Boniface scored 21 goals and provided 10 assists in 34 appearances, playing a crucial role in Leverkusen’s historic Bundesliga triumph that ended Bayern Munich’s long-standing dominance.
His impressive performances have continued into the current season, where he has already notched seven goals and five assists in just eight Bundesliga appearances. He also opened his UEFA Champions League account with a decisive strike against AC Milan.
Reports from Fichajes indicate that both Manchester United and Chelsea are willing to compete for Boniface’s signature, with his potential transfer fee estimated between €60 and €80 million.
Despite recently signing young strikers Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, Manchester United remains keen to bolster their attacking options, viewing Boniface as a player who could provide the additional firepower needed upfront. Chelsea, on the other hand, has been actively seeking a world-class striker, aligning Boniface’s profile with their strategy to acquire the best young talents in world football.
Boniface’s contract with Leverkusen runs until the summer of 2028, giving the German club a strong negotiating position. The striker appears focused on his performances for Xabi Alonso’s side and is in no rush to leave.
