Galatasaray technical director, Okan Buruk, has confirmed the presence of a January transfer clause in Victor Osimhen’s loan agreement with the Turkish champions. The clause could allow the Nigerian striker to join another club during the winter transfer window.
Speaking during an interview on Galatasaray’s official website, Buruk disclosed that while Osimhen has expressed a desire to remain with the team for the entire season, the final decision ultimately rests with the player.
“There is a clause about transfers in January. This clause has different things,” Buruk said. “However, Osimhen has stated his intention to stay here until the end of the season.”
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on the final day of the summer transfer window after negotiations with Chelsea and Al Ahly fell through. Since arriving, he has made a significant impact, scoring eight goals and providing four assists in nine appearances across all competitions.
Buruk recounted the complexities of securing Osimhen’s transfer, describing the process as initially unrealistic but ultimately successful after discussions with the club president and transfer committee.
Osimhen’s performances have heightened interest from several top European clubs, making the January window a critical period for both the player and Galatasaray.
