Tony Okocha, the former Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has stated that Governor Sim Fubara is generating challenges for himself as he prepares for the 2027 governorship election. Okocha indicated that Fubara’s actions would lead to his de-marketing in the lead-up to the polls.
The ongoing feud between Fubara and former Governor Nyesom Wike has persisted despite efforts from President Bola Tinubu and other political figures to mediate. Okocha noted that while he is open to a peaceful resolution, it hinges on Fubara’s adherence to the rule of law.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Okocha remarked, “Wike made it possible for Fubara to emerge as governor. Fubara was never a politician. He is creating problems for himself. It is our business to demarket him and his party to win in 2027.”
He added, “For the next 10 years, I do not see any politician dismantling the political structure Wike has established in Rivers State. I’m not God, but I’m speaking about what is possible within human capability. Wike’s structure cannot be destroyed—not so soon.”
