Labour Party Chairman and PDP Candidate Defect to APC Ahead of Kaduna LG Poll

-

As the Kaduna local government elections approach on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Isah Chiroma, the state Labour Party chairman, and Abdullahi Imrah, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship candidate for Kafachan Ward B in Jema’a Local Government Area, have both defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Chiroma made the announcement during the campaign flag-off event, expressing that the inclusive governance style of Senator Uba Sani and ongoing infrastructural development in Southern Kaduna inspired his decision to join the APC. He emphasized his commitment to moving the state forward alongside the ruling party.

Similarly, Imrah stated that despite the impending elections, he opted to leave the PDP to collaborate with Peter Tanko of the APC, aiming to work together for the progress of the country.

Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe welcomed the new members, congratulating them on their decision to join what she termed “the winning team.” She expressed confidence that the APC is poised for victory based on the enthusiastic turnout of supporters and urged party members to conduct themselves appropriately during the elections.

Peter Tanko Dogara, the APC chairmanship candidate for Jema’a Local Government Council, reassured constituents that they would benefit from good governance and transparency under his leadership. He highlighted key community issues, including security, health, investment, and empowerment, stating, “I have a lot of things for the community, and these are the things we are looking for.”
