The North-Central All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term in office ahead of the 2027 presidential election. In a statement issued following a meeting in Abuja on Sunday, the Forum expressed its unwavering support for Tinubu’s re-election, citing the significant opportunities his administration has provided to the region since he assumed office in 2023.
The endorsement came despite growing opposition from northern socio-political groups such as the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Arewa Youth Consultative Forum (AYCF), which have voiced concerns over the current socio-economic situation and indicated their reluctance to support Tinubu’s re-election unless substantial improvements are made.
In its statement, signed by Chairman Alhaji Saleh Zazzaga, the North-Central APC Forum highlighted several key achievements under Tinubu’s leadership, including the expansion of infrastructure, improvements in security, and increased appointments for the region. The Forum emphasized that, since the return of democratic rule in 1999, no other administration had provided as much support to the North-Central zone as Tinubu’s.
The statement also pointed to the reduction in insecurity, particularly for farmers who now have safer access to their farmlands, and praised Tinubu’s economic reforms, which have seen positive changes such as the strengthening of the Naira, increased oil production, and rising foreign reserves.
The Forum called on the President to continue focusing on developmental projects in the region, including the establishment of the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC), and assured Tinubu of the region’s continued support. The Forum further stated that it would actively campaign for his re-election in 2027, citing the recent defections of two Labour Party lawmakers in Plateau State as an indication of growing support for Tinubu in the North-Central.
The North-Central APC Forum’s endorsement is a significant show of support for Tinubu, even as opposition continues to grow in other parts of the country. The Forum’s message makes it clear that the region is committed to backing the President’s policies and his bid for a second term.
