The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that all phone numbers in the country are now linked to a National Identification Number (NIN). Speaking at the 2024 Annual Corporate Governance Conference in Lagos, NCC Executive Vice-Chairman Aminu Maida confirmed the completion of the process, which began in 2020.
Maida acknowledged the difficulties faced by Nigerians during the linkage but emphasized its importance in enhancing security. He stated, “Every phone number is now linked to a verified NIN, helping curb crime and improve safety.”
