The Niger State Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the distribution of refunds for services not rendered during the 2023 Hajj exercise.
The board announced it had received a sum of ₦225,934,920 from the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) for the purpose. Each of the 3,699 pilgrims from Niger State will receive ₦61,080, equivalent to 150 Saudi Riyals.
NAHCON’s Executive Secretary, Sheikh Muhammad Awwal Aliyu, disclosed the development in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Jibrin Usman Kodo. He explained that a dedicated committee, comprising board management and local government liaison officers, has been set up to ensure a transparent and accountable disbursement process.
“We will ensure every pilgrim who performed the 2023 Hajj receives their rightful refund,” Sheikh Aliyu affirmed, adding that the funds would be distributed promptly.
