The Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC), in partnership with Balmoral Group, has launched a three-day training course for boxing referees and judges at the Brai Ayanote Boxing Gym, National Stadium, Lagos. The training, which started on November 5 and concludes on November 7, features Ghanaian boxing official Rogers Barnor as the lead instructor.
The initiative, fully sponsored by Balmoral Group CEO Ezekiel Adamu, aims to elevate officiating standards in Nigerian boxing. NBBofC President Dr. Rafiu Ladipo emphasized the importance of quality officiating to foster the growth of the sport, while Barnor expressed satisfaction with the high attendance and anticipated improvements.
The course combines theoretical and practical sessions, and participants will receive certification upon completion. This training is part of NBBofC’s broader efforts to raise Nigerian boxing to international standards, with a focus on enhancing decision-making and professionalism among officials.
