Napoli Signs Manchester United Midfielder Scott McTominay for £25.7 Million
Scott McTominay, a 27-year-old midfielder, has officially left Manchester United to join Napoli in a deal worth £25.7 million. The transfer marks the end of McTominay’s long association with the Red Devils, where he has been a fixture since joining the club’s soccer school at the age of five.
McTominay made his senior debut for Manchester United in 2017 and went on to play 255 games for the club, scoring 10 goals. Last season, he made 43 appearances, contributing significantly to the team. However, with the recent signing of Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain, McTominay’s opportunities for regular playing time at Old Trafford were expected to diminish.
In a heartfelt farewell message, McTominay expressed his gratitude for his time at Manchester United, saying, “I’ve absolutely loved it and I’m very, very grateful for the football club. I’m ready for a new challenge, and I’m ready to go and embrace it and take it by storm.”
Manchester United stands to benefit financially from McTominay’s departure, as the transfer aligns with Premier League Profit and Sustainability regulations, which offer more leeway for homegrown players. The club’s manager, Erik ten Hag, shared mixed feelings about the transfer, acknowledging that while it’s a positive move for both McTominay and the club, it’s difficult to see him leave. “I’m very happy for him. It’s also [a good deal] for us, but it is mixed because I wouldn’t prefer to lose him because he’s Manchester United in everything,” Ten Hag remarked.
Napoli, managed by Antonio Conte, has been active in the transfer market this season. In addition to signing McTominay, they recently secured striker Romelu Lukaku from Chelsea. The club is also reportedly pursuing McTominay’s Scotland teammate, Billy Gilmour, from Brighton, as they continue to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially designated Morocco as the host for the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League finals. The tournament will take place from November 9 to November 23, as announced on CAF’s official website.
Morocco previously hosted the last edition of this prestigious competition. Among the eight teams competing this year is Nigeria’s champions, Edo Queens. The current title holders are Mamelodi Sundowns from South Africa.
The tournament offers significant financial incentives, with winners receiving $400,000 and runners-up taking home $250,000.

Fenerbahce manager, Jose Mourinho, is reportedly planning a January transfer move for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati. After spending last season on loan at Brighton in the Premier League, Fati, now 21, returned to Barcelona but has struggled for game time under new coach Hansi Flick.
Once considered a potential successor to Lionel Messi, Fati’s limited opportunities at Barça have fueled speculation about a possible departure. According to *AS*, Mourinho is keen to bring the Spain international to the Turkish league, offering him the chance for regular football at Fenerbahce.
Fenerbahce’s sporting director, Mario Branco, is expected to initiate discussions with Fati’s representatives soon, confident that the promise of consistent playing time will help secure the forward’s move.
