The awaited toxicology test aimed at unraveling the circumstances surrounding the demise of the late singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, has reached its conclusion.
As disclosed by State counsel Oluwaseun Akinde during a session at the coroner’s court in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State in November 2023, the examination, conducted in the United States, has been finalized. While the autopsy focusing on the external body of the deceased had already been completed, the toxicology test delved into internal factors.
An anonymous official from the Lagos State Government, citing the lack of authorization to discuss the matter, revealed to The PUNCH’s correspondent on Thursday that the test results had returned to Nigeria. Additionally, a copy has been forwarded to the police for further action.
The official explained the delays, attributing them to the destruction of the laboratory responsible for conducting the test during the #EndSARS protests. Consequently, the sample had to be sent abroad for analysis.
However, a source within the Lagos State Police Command, also speaking anonymously, confirmed the receipt of the toxicology report. Yet, due to its technical nature, it requires interpretation by the pathologists who conducted the autopsy. Once translated into layman’s terms, the findings will be disseminated through the office of the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO).
