Fans of the late and promising singer, Ilerioluwa Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, have announced plans for a Candlelight Vigil in his honor, to be held in London. The event is scheduled for September 20, 2023, at Aylesham Centre, Rye Ln, London.
This announcement has sparked a range of reactions, with some expressing concerns about the chosen location for the vigil. Notably, it was pointed out that Naira Marley, a fellow artist and former associate of Mohbad, had allegedly been associated with the area as a gang leader.
One commenter, Bouqui, questioned the choice of Peckham for the Candlelight Vigil, given Naira Marley’s purported history. Others echoed this sentiment, expressing confusion and concern.
On the other hand, there were supporters who emphasized the need for unity and mourning in the wake of Mohbad’s tragic passing. They suggested that the dress code for the event should be all white to symbolize brightness.
While fans and well-wishers prepare to pay their respects to Mohbad, the young and talented artist, who was previously signed to Naira Marley’s Marlians label, tragically passed away last week. His father attributed his death to an injection administered by an auxiliary nurse for an ear infection, while his mother suspected foul play, hinting at unresolved conflicts with Naira Marley that had placed her son under significant stress and anxiety. The circumstances surrounding his demise continue to be a subject of investigation and discussion.
