Middle Belt Forum Rejects KADSIECOM’s Council Election Results in Kaduna

-

The Middle Belt Forum, representing the Kaduna State chapter, has vehemently rejected the results of the council elections conducted on Saturday, October 19, as announced by the chairperson of the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM), Hajiya Hajara Mohammed.

In a statement, the forum’s state chairman, Luka Binniyat, urged Governor Uba Sani to thoroughly review the election outcomes and take decisive action that would bolster democracy and restore the faith of citizens in his leadership. “We plead with the Kaduna State House of Assembly to amend the KADSIECOM law to impose heavy fines and jail terms for electoral offenses, especially for officials involved in the electoral process,” he stated.

Binniyat expressed his discontent with the announced results, suggesting they may have been the result of “Artificial Intelligence manipulation,” calling them an “insult to the collective intelligence of our people.” He highlighted Kaduna’s unique characteristics as an advanced and diverse state, emphasizing the need for responsible governance.

The chairman alleged that elections did not take place in 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Middle Belt region of Kaduna State. He claimed that election materials arrived late and without result sheets, leading to voter skepticism and a refusal to participate. “Since the election did not hold, there is no basis for the announced results at the ward or Local Government levels, as required by KADSIECOM law,” he said.

Binniyat criticized the dissemination of purported KADSIECOM results on social media, asserting that no official results were collected from the polls. He warned that accepting the results announced by Hajiya Hajara Mohammed would damage the integrity and trust Governor Uba Sani has cultivated among the populace.

He lamented the growing trend of local government elections resulting in uniform victories for the APC, cautioning against the long-term consequences of such electoral injustices. “This is a huge injury to democracy and a mockery of civilization,” he concluded.
