Loic Remy Reveals Failed Liverpool Medical and Arsenal Snub Before Joining Chelsea

-

Former Chelsea striker Loic Remy has opened up about the series of dramatic events that led him to Stamford Bridge in August 2014.

Remy, 37, revealed that Liverpool initially triggered his £8.5m release clause at QPR, and he even joined their pre-season tour in the United States. However, the deal fell through due to a failed medical.

Recalling the experience, Remy told Ladbrokes:

“I arrived at Liverpool with my agent, and it all felt like a dream. I met the squad, completed interviews, and underwent a medical. But something wasn’t right. Two days later, I learned there was an issue with my medical, and the deal was off.”

Although disappointed, Remy returned to QPR, ready to resume training. Unexpectedly, Chelsea reached out, expressing interest in signing him.

“Chelsea called my agent, and we went to Cobham for a medical. While this was happening, Arsenal contacted my agent, asking me not to sign as they wanted me too!” Remy added.

The French striker ultimately chose Chelsea, describing it as the “craziest move” of his career. He played an integral role in Chelsea’s successful 2014-15 campaign, helping them win the Premier League title under Jose Mourinho.
