A 63-year-old plumber, Akin Kuboye, was rescued alive from a 120-meter-deep well in the Igando area of Lagos State by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service.

The Director of the agency, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. She revealed that the emergency occurred at 20 Muyibi Adebayo Street, off Agric Road, Egan–Igando, at around 9:54 a.m.

“The rescue team responded swiftly to a life-threatening distress call,” Adeseye said. “The Ejigbo Rescue Crew tenaciously brought out the plumber alive despite the challenging circumstances.”

The incident occurred while Kuboye was working in the well, located at the rear of a 14-room bungalow on a 648-square-meter property.

After his rescue, Kuboye was handed over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), where he was stabilized for ammonia gas inhalation effects and later transported to the hospital for further treatment.

The swift response of the fire service highlights the importance of timely intervention in emergencies, ensuring the survival and safety of individuals at risk.
